Vistaprint uses MEX CMMS to manage every asset from building to component level, ensuring lean, reliable, and efficient production. With thousands of work orders tracked, preventive maintenance policies in place, and 24/7 mobile access, MEX CMMS drives operational excellence and consistent maintenance performance.
About Vistaprint
Vistaprint is an online supplier of printed and promotional materials and marketing services for microbusinesses and consumers, specializing in print-on-demand products. Vistaprint applies the principles of mass production (Lean Manufacturing) to printing; using industrial printing presses and processes to support short-run commercial printing.
Vistaprint’s proprietary production model integrates multiple software systems and production components into a fully connected, end-to-end workflow, from “click to ship.” With production facilities located in Windsor, Canada; Venlo, Netherlands; Melbourne, Australia; and Bhiwandi, India, Vistaprint has established an international presence.
How Vistaprint uses MEX CMMS in manufacturing
To consistently deliver on-time, high-quality, and cost-effective service to customers, Vistaprint relies on MEX CMMS as its core maintenance system. A flexible and reliable maintenance management platform is essential for maintaining consistent maintenance practices across a high-volume manufacturing environment.
MEX plays a critical role in manufacturing performance by enabling effective planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement of maintenance activities. The system supports maintenance teams with the structure and visibility needed to meet operational, safety, and quality expectations.
Asset management capabilities
Vistaprint uses MEX maintenance software to manage assets across all operational levels, from site and building management down to individual equipment components. All critical assets are recorded within the Asset Register and linked to supplier information, Preventive Maintenance (PM) policies, work order history, and associated spare parts in the Stores Catalog.
Today, the system includes:
- 305 registered assets
- 146 active Preventive Maintenance policies
- 1,657 items in the Stores Catalog
This structured approach ensures maintenance data remains accurate, traceable, and audit-ready.
Preventive maintenance and work order management
Since June 2010, MEX has captured nearly 6,000 completed Work Orders, all retained in system history for long-term tracking and reporting. Preventive Maintenance schedules are managed directly within MEX, helping teams reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
By centralizing work order management, Vistaprint ensures maintenance tasks are planned, scheduled, completed, and documented consistently across the operation.
Maintenance request management
Vistaprint extended its MEX maintenance system to the shop floor using the Requestor Module, enabling maintenance requests to be submitted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This accessibility has significantly increased return on investment (ROI) by capturing maintenance issues as they arise.
More than 60 active users contribute to the system, with over 1,200 requests submitted and actioned by the maintenance team. This level of engagement has improved response times, communication, and overall maintenance visibility.
Maintenance reporting, KPIs, and continuous improvement
The MEX Reporting Module and KPI tracking provide clear insight into maintenance performance, workload trends, and asset reliability. These reports allow Vistaprint to monitor success, identify opportunities for improvement, and make informed maintenance decisions.
This visibility helps ensure safety, quality, and financial standards are consistently met or exceeded, while supporting long-term operational excellence.
Operational excellence supported by MEX Maintenance Software
A clear example of the results achieved with MEX is Vistaprint Australia’s recognition with a Bronze Medal for Operational Excellence from the Shingo Institute at Utah State University.
From the beginning, success has been driven by a clear long-term vision, a highly capable team, and the right tools to support them. MEX has been part of Vistaprint’s organization from day one, supporting continuous improvement and maintenance excellence.
